Menu of the week: recipe ideas from Monday December 26 to Sunday January 1
If the temperatures are quite mild for the period, this does not prevent us from putting winter flavors on the menu. Soups, gratins, dishes in sauce like at Grandma’s, French toast… This week puts the spotlight on family and comforting recipes, perfect for enjoying holidays and celebrations.
New Year’s gourmet menu
To end and start the new year in style, we have concocted exceptional menus.
On the 31st, start the appetizer with smoked trout bagels. Less expensive than salmon but with similar taste qualities, smoked trout is an interesting alternative when you have to put together a Christmas menu on a budget. Then move on to the main course: chicken supremes with mushroom scales, mashed potatoes with mandarin zest. If the arrangement of the mushrooms requires a certain meticulousness, the recipe is within everyone’s reach.
Finally, the highlight of New Year’s Eve will be a marvelous white chocolate and chestnut. Both melting and crunchy, this dessert with regressive flavors will delight both adults and children. Our advice if you have a little time, prepare your homemade chestnut cream, it is much cheaper and very simple to make.
Do you have room for the next day? So much the better, because there will be beautiful people on the menu. Foie gras mille-feuille with pears and chocolate tuiles, langoustine ravioli from Cyril Lignac, not to mention a tiramisu-flavoured charlotte… 2023 promises to be delicious.

Your shopping list for the week
Sweet potatoes, leeks, citrus fruits, pears, carrots, fennel, potatoes, mushrooms, apples, butternut squash, mangoes… Your fruit and vegetable basket will still be full this week. It must be said that after the Christmas weekend, our body requires fiber and vitamins to stay in shape.
Also to put on your shopping list are shrimps, salmon and langoustines in the seafood section and chicken breasts, rump steak, chicken fillets, in the butcher’s section.
Regarding fresh products, you will also need butter, mascarpone and mozzarella.
Then move on to the dry shelves, stocking up on the ingredients needed to bake: eggs, flour, sugar, plus dark chocolate bars. Also consider adding coconut milk, pastry sheets and Chinese ravioli pasta to the shopping list. You will find all of this in the cuisines of the world section.
We finally finish with biscuits with a spoon (with the biscuits), a country bread and bagel breads to buy in the bakery.
Happy New Year !
