Colin Firth and Maggie Cohn’s romance started on the set of The Staircasethe new Canal + series launched this Thursday, October 13, in which he plays Michael Peterson, a writer convicted of the murder of his wife Kathleen, herself played by Toni Collette.

Living in Los Angeles, Maggie Cohn is a renowned screenwriter in Hollywood: she was notably distinguished in 2017 for American Crime Story at the Writers Guild of America Awards and the Producers Guild of America Awards. As noted by DailyMail the American also wrote episodes of the Netflix production Narcos: Mexicoderived from the original series Narcos which recounts the bloody cartel war in Colombia.

In December 2019, Colin Firth announced his breakup with Livia Giuggioli, his wife since 1997. The duo announced the news through a press release. “Colin and Livia Firth have separated. They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children,” reported Page Six who obtained the document. “They kindly ask to respect their right to privacy. There will be no further comment.”
Together, the couple had two sons: Luca and Matteo, born in 2001 and 2003 respectively. The interpreter of George VI in The speech of a king is also the father of William, born in 1990, the fruit of his love with the American actress Meg Tilly.

If the reasons for the divorce had not been specified at the time, the magazine Hello claimed that he was linked to the infidelities of Livia Giuggioli. Between 2015 and 2016, rumors claimed that the Italian producer had an affair with a childhood friend named Marco Branaccia. Three years later, in 2018, the couple filed a complaint against this stranger who, according to them, was harassing them. In the Times, the main interested party had wanted to defend himself. “We had an adventure. [Livia] wanted to leave Colin for me,” said Marco Branaccia at the time. In the columns of the daily, the Italian journalist then gave his version of the facts: “My harassment only consisted of sending her two messages on WhatsApp after she ended our relationship in June 2016, as well as an e- mail.
