Oh my Noodle: homemade Chinese noodle soups close to the Champs-Elysées
The time is over when you had to go to the 13th arrondissement, Belleville or the new chinatown in the 3rd district of Paris to taste good authentic Chinese noodles! Head to the Champs-Elysées to savor homemade noodles at Oh My Noodle.
Lovers of Chinese cuisine typical and cheap are always a bit of an orphan when enjoying a stroll down the Champs-Elysées. Oh My Noodle comes to the rescue of the 8th with a chic canteen air and a menu centered around the famous “Lamian”, fresh wheat noodles Chinese from the region of Lanzhou.
Oh My Noodle respects the tradition of these popular noodles in China with a direct partnership with the restaurant CHEN JI in the city of LanZhou.
Continuous homemade Chinese noodles by the chef
At the entrance to the restaurant, the chef puts on a show, for sure this attracts the customer and it is possible to validate that the production is indeed artisanal. The house uses organic flouryou can also see the bags of flour stored to the right of the entrance to the restaurant.
The chef works in Lanzhou style, with vigorously worked dough: stretched in a straight line, with quick gestures, the spectacle is clearly fun to watch. Throughout the day the kitchen is busy producing the noodles as and when ordered.
As a starter: small Bao and homemade ravioli
To start, the menu offers a variety of small steamed dishes, including the famous pork bao, very fleshy, to dip (or not!) in the spicy sauce available on all the tables. You can also enjoy the grilled ravioli with chives and prawnsalso available in steam version.
The specialty of the house: the noodle soup!
The star dish of the house is unquestionably the soup of beef noodles from Lanzhou.
A recipe of apparent simplicity that combines the famous noodles prepared by the chef with slices of Chinese white radish, tender slices of beef and a incredibly fragrant broth sprinkled with spring onions… drizzle with chilli sauce if you want to follow the tradition, and it’s just a treat.
The menu offers many variations: lacquered pork, duck, chicken and even seafood.
Generous stir-fried noodles
You can also skip the soup box and taste the fresh noodles WOK mode, sautéed with an expressive seasoning, some vegetables with a choice of beef, chicken, shrimp or extra vegetables for vegetarians. The noodles are not overcooked, a sort of Chinese al dente, with noodles of irregular size from time to time (small, large, long, short…), so visually this isn’t super sexy, it’s downright good and very filling (even in shrimp!), with a starter it will be hard to finish such a dish.
Good value for money in the neighborhood
Those who frequent the neighborhood know that the prices are a bit high, but the prices from Oh My Noodle are affordable. Besides, the neighborhood clientele has already spotted the spot, it’s just packed every lunchtime, remember to arrive early.
